What is a urological consultation, and how does it proceed?

Urological consultation is recommended for all people experiencing disturbing symptoms affecting the urogenital system. After conducting tests, the urologist can diagnose, among others diseases of the kidneys, bladder, ureters, urethra, and external genital organs. Quick diagnosis allows for the implementation of appropriate treatment that will bring the desired results in the shortest possible time.

A urological consultation begins with an interview with the patient about existing ailments, current diseases, and medications taken. The next step is a physical examination. It is typically performed in a lying position, but sometimes a patient may be asked to stand up. Depending on the situation, it may be necessary to book the patient for a procedure or conduct further tests and consult their results with a doctor.

Who do we recommend a urological consultation to?

Men over 50 should visit a urologist and have their prostate examined at least once a year. However, it is worth carrying out regular tests at a younger age. Moreover, a urological consultation is necessary in case of symptoms such as:

  • redness, itching, burning, and swelling in the intimate areas,
  • presence of blood or pus in the urine,
  • difficulty urinating (and frequent urination),
  • pain during urination and burning sensation in the urethra,
  • feeling of constant pressure on the bladder,
  • pain affecting the lower abdomen, urogenital organs, and lower back,
  • erectile dysfunction.

Urological consultation with ultrasound

A urological consultation allows for a thorough diagnosis of the urinary bladder, ureters, and kidneys. The urologist may also perform an ultrasound of the prostate gland. Ultrasound is an imaging test that allows for the assessment of internal structures in the body. It is a safe and painless procedure with no additional risk to the patient.

What ultrasound examinations can be performed in our clinic?

The key element of a urological consultation is a conversation with the patient, but in the diagnosis of many diseases, it will also be necessary to perform an ultrasound examination of the urinary system, which we perform in our clinic. During the consultation, your doctor may perform an ultrasound examination to assess the condition of your kidneys and bladder. Our patients can also undergo an ultrasound of the prostate gland, which has a significant impact on the functioning of the urinary system.
